Animal Reiki

Reiki for animals is a complementary therapy that uses gentle, non-invasive energy work to support an animal's physical, mental and emotional well-being. It is often used for deep relaxation, stress relief and to support the body's natural healing abilities and is best administered in the animal's familiar surroundings. Reiki should always be used in conjunction with, not as a replacement for, veterinary care.

How it works

  • Animals instinctively know how much energy they need and will move away when they have had enough and the flow of energy will stop.

  • The session is guided by the animal's behaviour and needs, allowing the practitioner to tailor the experience to the individual animal.

  • A practitioner channels universal life energy to the animal through a gentle touch or by working from a short distance.

Helps animals cope with life's challenges.

  • End-of-life:

Can provide comfort and calm to terminally ill animals, helping them to feel more at peace.

What to expect during a session

  • They may seem to "melt" into the relaxation and may become sleepy.

  • Some animals may move away when they have had enough healing, while others may stay close or even push themselves into the practitioner's hands.

  • Afterwards, the animal may be sleepy and want to rest.

  • The animal may show signs of relaxation such as deep breathing, yawning, or snoring.

Important considerations

  • Always obtain permission from your veterinarian before administering Reiki, especially if the animal is sick or injured.

  • It is important to find a qualified practitioner who has specialized training in working with animals.

  • Reiki should not be used as a substitute for veterinary treatment.
